The Knee

I finally got the results of my MRI on my hurt knee. I have "degeneration, contusion, swelling, fluid, and a tear in the meniscus." Now I am waiting to see an orthopedic surgeon for an assessment of the situation. Nothing I have read online about meniscul tears sounds like what I wanted to hear. In the meantime, I feel pretty good when I lie down, but have pain when I sit or walk; so I have let Will baby me a little bit and I lie down a lot. And when I get up I wear my big, black, $100 knee brace.

Will starts working in potato harvest Monday. We will be driving a tractor for Richard Tominaga. I'm a little worried about his thumb. He had an incident two weeks ago when a horse smashed his arm and hand against a rock wall. His thumb hurt so much I made him get an X-ray. It isn't broken but is badly contused (bruised). He still can't use it to even start the car. I guess bruising can cause more trouble than I had realized.

Emily's husband Joel is out of the Marines and back home now, so I'm not spending as much time babysitting Bailey. But to counter my suffering from withdrawal pangs from not having that sweet experience, I have been asked to be in the Relief Society Presidency. I wasn't sure if I should with my knee, shoulder and back, some dental problems, and even a bit of depression, but I think that the timing probably is just right, so I said yes.

On Labor Day we got our corn picked and in freezer bags. All we have left are potatoes, carrots, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes and lots of onions. And the apple trees are loaded.

Yikes, Sherry. Will you have to have surgery on your knee? That stinks!
Let Will totally baby you. There are so few times in our lives we get that. I hope it gets better soon. And Will's finger, too.
Congrats (?) on your new calling.

I hope that you don't have to go through surgery. I am sorry about Will's thumb too. So, other than your body falling apart, how are ya? We are all fine here. Love is doing remarkably well. She is totally settled in as far as being up here. She is working on unpacking more boxes, very hard. She has perked up and seems very happy and more alert since her doctor took her off some medicine. We hope potato harvest goes well! xoxoxo
