We don't know where the baby pig came from but it was running all over the neighborhood Wednesday evening. Grownups and kids chased it around trying to corner and capture it and find out where it came from. (and protect their gardens) But even ungreased pigs are difficult to catch, so why did I think I should give into the mob mentality and join in the race? I wasn't wearing supportive shoes and didn't notice the uneven ground where my neighbor was doing some construction. Suddenly my knee went one way and the rest of me went the other. I tried to keep going but that knee just wouldn't hold me up. I hopped over to a fence and had someone call Will to pick me up. I elevated my knee, iced it, took ibuprofen, and muttered under my breath about 65 year old women chasing pigs that they have never even met. Especially when this woman knows darn well that her right knee does not do well with running and any kind of impact. GRRRRRRRRR, The doctor diagnosed a torn cruciate ligament (ACL), but said Xrays and MRI's are needed. I suggested waiting a few days to see if maybe it was nothing and would just go away. I'm in less pain than the first day, but don't feel much better. If I don't get better soon, I'll bite the bullet and have the tests done and see an orthopedic surgeon. But not one from Blackfoot. Been there, done that and was not pleased. Susan wants me to go to her doctor - she even said that she would go with me!
Meantime, life goes on. If I lie around and rest I feel pretty good. Sitting and walking are not comfortable and wear me out. However, Saturday morning is Carolyn's baby shower in Ogden, and Emily and I are giving it, so I can't renege on that. Emily will drive and do most of the work. I'll just relax and enjoy the affair. (at least I'll try to relax) Then we can't stay too long because Emily has to work Saturday night from 5:00 P.M. to 1:00 AM.
I can't wait to see how big Carolyn has gotten. I hope it will be a nice shower. She's already had 5 people who can't come then drop off presents at the house. Also too bad Bradon's football team, coached in part by Dad, is in Logan that morning and all the boys want to go, so we won't get to see the guys, which will be very disappointing to Bailey. She tends to think of her cousins as her brothers and sisters and loves to look at pictures of those who live far away. She has no trouble naming: Ally, Duke, Scottie, Matt, Ben, the Other Scott, and she is very excited that aunt Carolyn is having a baby girl. She says hopefully, "I have a baby in my tummy, too."
Abi, Adrian, and Mother
What a brother and sister-in-law I have! Abi and Adrian are absolutely amazing with the amount of time and caring they are giving right now. (as always in all ways) It must have been difficult, Abi, during your unbelievably horrendous week, to do all you did to help Mother, but you still did so much. How beautiful for her to get to go to little Mollie's birthday party!
Listening to the peace and joy in Mother's voice on the phone is enough to make me want to cry. There are no words for my thanks (and Susan's) for your goodness. I can only try to tell you and also pray that you will be so blessed you can hardly stand it.
